I just finished reading it and it was really eye opening to a lot of things I've struggled with over the past few years. She really has a way of explaining why women say the hurtful things they do in a very unbiased, but realistic way. <BR/>I talked to a friend of mine this morning that is going back to work and pregnant with her fourth child. I am so thankful for the work I have and the creative working solutions of this generation. Employers today are far more willing to let moms work from home for a day as you are today to build morale and keep turn over down. They've found a better win/win situation. <BR/>Overall, if you look around, you'll hardly find women NOT working anymore. It's just that, in this stage of your life, it's hard to connect with those that are working and to find support. Over the last few years, I have definitely found that on the internet. Surprising, huh? At the same time, maybe it's ok. <BR/>I'm glad things are getting better and I hope you will both be empowered to continue striving for the best balance you can find - I promise there is no perfect solution. I think it's quite rare that anyone has everything under control all at once. You are perfectly normal and you have a small child, a job, a home, and are struggling through the first few years of marriage and trying to figure out where you're headed. <BR/><BR/>70% of mother works. Yes - 70%. 5% can afford to stay home and of those 5% that can afford to stay home - those fall in the category of their husbands making over $115K a year; 25% can't afford to work and raise children. Be ever so thankful that you can even strive to balance such a crazy platter of expectations. I am incredibly disillusion with the church at this stage in my life which seems to unsupportive of working parents and completely disconnected with what it takes to raise a family anymore. That one parent has to work from home while the other works outside of the home, but the idea that one "doesn't work" is hardly existent anymore. As I've looked across facebook I've certainly found this to be true. The financial advancement of the family is more determinant on the wife's ability to earn an income and long term - your family will have a future just proven by the fact that you can go out and work right now. It may feel stressful, but kudos for you. In the long run, you WILL be ok. Sean and I went through some very similar transition when we first married, left church ministries, tried to switch jobs, had our first child, and I was the breadwinner -it was SO stressful and people weren't supportive...but I promise in a few years it will ALL Make sense and be worth it. Hang in there! I'm not sure how I could have made it thru without mine. My contractions had been awful. First, they had to give me medicine to start the contractions, since my water had broken. I would have contractions 30 seconds, then only have 30 seconds to 'recover' before the next one came. <BR/><BR/>I was gonna say something else... Can't remember what now. Umm...<BR/><BR/>Oh yeah... I had thrown up also. HeHe, and it was on the nurse.
